i have a M40C outboard and Tohatsu control box that i purchased. the motor doesnt start up. when i pull the cord the flywheel moves freely and smoothly but it doesnt start up. i checked for spark and i dont see any. i am wondering if it is the control box that is doing this to me or if it is in the motor. i just realized that the kill switch pin was missing but when i replaced that, still no spark. i just inserted the key pushed it in and turned it to the on position (i think) , tried starting it again but nothing. Sorry i forgot to mention i dont have a battery to use the electric started. that wil be my next project. i just want to at least know that i am not being stopped by the control box so i can start to narrow down what is wrong in the motor. any suggestions will help. this is my first tohatsu motor. i am very used to evinrudes and johnsons. thank you very much.
