Hi to all,

I have a Tohatsu M18 D with broken ignition coil and I have ordered a new one from an online shop! On the description says that fits my model,
but i have just realised that my original ignition coil has one black/yellow wire and the new one has one red and one black wire!
Do you have any idea how i should make the connection?
Many thanks
Dimitris

Many thanks for the reply!
The description of the coil that i have ordered was saying the following:
TOHATSU NISSAN Outboard IGNITION COIL N
S M 15 18 9.9 9.9HP 15HP 18HP 3M3-06048
Replace the following TOHATSU NISSAN OEM-Part Number below: 3G2-06050-0, 3G2-06040-1/2, 3M3-06048

Are those Tohatsu spare parts ? Seems not, Tohatsu comes with shorter spark plug cable lenght and attached plug caps. Check if will be possible to fit correctly at crankase. First one doesn't need a ground wire, the bolt will ground it when adjusting bolt to crankcase. Does your motor have 1 or 2 IC wires coming from CD ?

I have bought the IC from Ebay!
My motor has 1 IC wire coming from CD!
Should i ground the new IC by adjusting the black cable on the crankcase?
Many thanks for your answer!

Black is ground, cut tip, weld a round connector, the one with an eye in middle and ground it to crankcase bolt, tighten the bolt for good ground. Connect red cable to CD pick up cable. Will you continue using old plug caps ?

I cannot speak for the aftermarket suppliers... as a dealer we use OEM parts. In fact, I prefer to use Chevy parts on Chevies, Toyota parts on Toyotas, etc.

Many thanks for you replies guys!
I am going to replace the old plug caps also with new NGK caps!

Dear pvanv i agree 100% with you that the OEM parts are far more reliable than any non-OEM parts!
But when the local dealers ask you to pay 150 euros for a new ignition coil and 85 euros for a second hand one! The non-OEM parts are the only way in my opinion!!

Wow, very abusive out of this planet prices, that OEM part only costs US $ 65.00, burn the store down, Thumbs Up.
