Hi, I'm in need of some confirmation that my recently purchased outboard is working correctly so will be grateful for any advice/information?

I've just bought the MFS6C second hand and when it idles the exhaust comes out of what I believe are idle ports at the top of the outboard leg but I also get some slight bubbling from the join of what would be the long shaft leg and the ultra long extension. When the revs are increased, exhaust also comes out from the prop as expected but there is still some coming from the extension joint. Question is, is this normal?

I note from the parts catalogue there are no gaskets sealing between the shaft and extension so believe this may be "normal". I've checked the oil in the lower and its all clear, no water or other contamination, and the lower was pressure checked according to service documents last time the impeller was changed. Thanks in anticipation...

Welcome to Iboats,

If the extension uses no gasket, and all leg bolts are well adjusted, you could apply a light coat of gasket former, cracy glue, right where you see exhaust coming out to stop the exhaust leak.

Happy Boating

Not to worry, you are likely seeing slight exhaust from water drains.
