When I first spotted a small spot of oil on the floor under my outboard I immediately suspected the lower end seal.. BUT.. upon further investigation, the oil neither smelled or looked like lower end oil. I found a larger amount of what I believe crankcase oil in the area directly inside the propellor (exhaust) area I think, and traces of oil on the upper sked/shaft exterior and under the power head. The last time the motor was ran was early spring so it took the oil quite a bit of time before it got down the the ground. The engine is still under warranty but before I take it the 80 miles to the repair facility someone posed a good question. Since the motor has less that 20 or 30 hours on it, is it possible that the oil that I am now seeing is the result of someone putting the motor in the back of my truck (wrong side down) ie. not on the tiller side, and some oil leaking out of the crankcase before I reemoved it from the truck when I got home 2 hours later? Fishing season is not the time to have your kicker in the shop!!!
