What is the difference in the 40hp Tohatsu and the 50hp? Is the intake? carbs? or what?<br /><br />thanks,<br /><br />Chris

when i bought my 2002 Tohatsu 40 hp the dealer told me it is just the carbs- i dont know either way though just what he told me.<br /><br />-John

The block is different and many other things. It's not cost effective to convert it.

I heard its the same block- same bore stroke and piston size, thats from their website anyways.

Elvin,<br /><br />Is the porting different between the 70 and 90 tldi too? I heard the only difference is in the ecu.

The TLDI 70 and 90 share a common block. To the best of my knowledge, the ECU is the only difference.
