tohatsu 40d carbs

I bought a 2005 "Honorable Tohatsu" 40d last april, and noticed the carbs only open up half way with the throttle wide open. My question is, if the 50's need bigger carbs and tubes like Elvin says, why do they engineer the 40's this way?

The carbs aren't bigger on the 50D. Just different. As to why your carbs aren't opening up, like they should, I would say they are out of adjustment.

adj the carb so it open all the way see if it will go back all the way to,you may have linkage problem like though not long enough to open it all the way, mine prop will not take full power it set back little to grab the water it's tricky to drive, i sending prop for repair it should be fixed if my engine isn't just over powering it.
