this might sound like a basic question but i'm not to clued up about outboards.I have a 40 hp tohatsu electric start 2004 does this unit charge my battery while running.can't find anything in the manual about it ?????? thanks

If it is an electric start...Yes.

I have an older tohatsu 40c. Does it charge my battery when running also?

If it's an electric start it will charge the battery.
