Tohatsu 3.5B powerhead removal to replace gear lever

The gear lever broke off on my Tohatsu 3.5B. Is there any trick to removing the powerhead?

I've removed the six bolts and the powerhead will not budge, What am I missing?

You need to give a good tug with a lever to pop free from the base gasket. You will need a new base gasket.

If powerhead still doesn't pop with a good tug, you have a stuck drive shaft on lower powerhead.
