I have a Tohatsu 3.5B and I am not getting a stream of water from the pee tube. I have replaced the water pump, ran a cloths hanger wire up the tube in the shaft, ran the wire into the holes in the foot and into the rubber pee hose and there appeared to be no blockages. I am only getting a little drop of water about every 15 seconds from the pee tube. Question - is there a thermostat on the engine or is there something else wrong. THANKS

There is no thermostat and there may not be anything wrong. The pee indicator is just a visual indicator that your pump is working...IE. If it's not working it just means that the indicator isn't working, not that the pump is out. Build up of scale in block could be preventing the indicator from giving an true volume/pressure of what is really running through the block. AS long as your engine is not overheating the drip may now be the new normal for your individual engine.

TG is 100% correct. We do a lot of work on these, and sometimes it's best to clear the p tube while the motor is running. Maybe several times. That way the water pressure can flush the debris out through the tube. If it's not overheating, then it is cooling OK and just the indicator is clogged.

You might try hitting the end of the pee tube with a blast of low pressure compressed air untill you see bubbles at the lower unit (when submerged.) This may purge any salt/mud deposits by pushing them back against the direction that forced them there. It has worked seveal times for me. ( Most reciently on a 5 hp that only gave me steam out the pee hole even after a wire reaming. Flowed like new after one shot of air.) Of course, you need to use your head on how much Air pressure to use. Start at 5 psi or so.

Thanks guys. A blast of air did the trick. The motor is now peeing a steady stream of water like it was when it was brand new. And the AIR was free. Thank you, Thank you. Bill
