Tohatsu 25hp - Need information regarding removal of needle bearing for input shaft

Can I just push it on through, or does it need to be pulled back out the top?

Agreed. Get the proper Factory service manual. The Factory way is to pull the bearing.

For ball bearing located at extremes will need a bearing puller, for needle bearing removal from crank shaft will need to tear it into pieces at a machine shop or on your own if knowing how to do it, will need to press back all crank shaft parts to factory specs once all needle bearings are replaced with new ones.-
