By next summer I'll have a new 10-ish hp engine for my older 14' aluminum boat. The question is how to get there?

I'm interested in 2 stroke because of what I've read about the weight issue and historically much lower maintenance needed than 4-strokes.

I'm exploring my options. Since by next year I'll have 2 kids in college and my wife will be in graduate school to change careers, I need to find the best deal/lowest maintenance I can. Dollars will be at a premium like never before!

I'm thinking about Mercury or Tohatsu, and considering the Merc 9.9 program motor from here at iboats; looks like a good deal and have heard good things about them. That motor is probably at least part Tohatsu anyway.

I've found one internet dealer in the US offering the 2-stroke Tohatsu 9.8; most only offer the 4-stroke. (I will have an authorized Tohatsu service facility within a half hour drive of where I use the boat in the event I need service.)

What I want to do is perhaps locate some Tohatsu dealers in Canada, within reasonable driving distance along the NY border. I'm thinking I might save a fair amount buying in Canada with Canadian dollars, and it would be a short trip to pick it up.

I'm having a hard time locating any Canadian dealers by a Google search, anyone know of dealers in that region?

Any thoughts appreciated.
