Hi, new here, joined up specifically to gain some advice to help get a new boat I bought set up properly.
There was a previous thread on upgrading the 115hp tohatsu to a 140 in 2005 with the use of nothing other than a pair of pliers and a rule (ruler, depending on where you come from .
Is this still the case with the newer model tohatsu's (2012?)
The main reason i'm looking at this is because previously I had a 17 inch 3 blade prop and could only get 5000 rpm max at WOT (52-5700 specification range). Motor was really struggling.
I then went to a 15 inch 3 blade prop and lifted the motor an inch (highest setting) and can now hit 56-5700rpm WOT(cavitation plate was previously nearly 2 inches under water at 3/4 throttle with correct trim, hence lifting the motor)
Still very slack out of the hole, takes ages to get on the plane in good weather, so options are either look at buying a 4 blade SS prop or see if I can get some more HP out of the engine for free over here in Australia they want around $800 for a SS prop
Any help/feedback/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Simon
