Was wondering if any of you guys out there, could provide me with this info:

Need the adjusting torquimeter values of the head cylinder to re adjust head gasket values, need the data expressed in Newton/Meters, also the torque adjustment sequence of all head bolts. Thanks in advance.

That information would be found in your service manual.

Strange as it sounds, have read the entire original Tohatsu 2 strokes 1 & 2 cylinder service manual twice and it's not there, that why my post. The only information is about several head bolts sizes and it's torques, example :

M-8 11-15 NM
M10 - 23-31 NM This one seems to be the head bolts size, the biggest of the list.
Also not a single word about the adjusting cylinder head bolt sequence.

When you replace a new head gasket, what would be your thoughts about what pressure to torque, use an intermediate one, go for the full ? Go for full and retorque after 50 working hours ? Any advise, ideas. What is the idea of having so broad torque adjustments ?

Thanks TG, that is the issue of having PDF manuals, preffer written tech literature to hand read taking your time instead, well, 18.1 is 27 Newton/Meters, found the hard to find torquing sequence, well hiden indeed. My 18 engine will be 100 working hours old soon from new, do you think is about time for a general head torque ?

A spare tech issue; If you remove the thermostat from a18 HP, 2 strokes engine, will you probably break the thermostat gasket, no, it's made of good material and won't break, what are your thoughts.

Tohatsu is a complicated Company to work with, have inquired them for some tech issues, with no back answer....To end: I'm seeking a USA based Company that is a Tohatsu distributer, handles very good prices from whom to buy spare 05/15/18/30 & 50- 2 stroke parts, do you know of anyone that would like to recommend me ?

If your questions are brief and make sense they will answer. What they will not do is get involved in what if, why do you design it that way and any other question that goes off on a meaningless course. Keep in mind that consumers should contact their local dealer, national distributor and manufacturer(last resort), in that order.

Thermostat gaskets should be replaced as a matter of course. But, they usually do not tear up unless the engine is fairly old.

Very few companies will export anymore. Fraud and timewasters who price parts, but do not order, have caused most dealers to disregard any requests from outside the U.S. Contact Tohatsu for their recommendation of a parts source, but be prepared....Any company that will export to you will only do it under their own terms and if you price a part once and do not order it...You will probably be banned from future responses.

Re: Tohatsu 18 HP 2 St. Torq Adjustments

Have just sent an email to them inquiring/requesting information about PDF Spare Parts & Service Manual for Tohatsu MW-50 HP, 2 stroke engines. Have 15 new units in stock and no information available what so ever, very weird.

Hope they will answer as to send me these manuals.

PD:We are Tohatsu's official distributers in Peru

I'm confused...If you are the distributor for your country then you would have the paper manuals as part of your set up. It would be unlikely that they would supply you with the manuals in PDF format due to the risk of them being illegally distributed. Parts manuals are available as free downloads from the link below:

Hola Elvin

It's a long story, the technical manager died in a plane crash several months ago, so the Company is headless right now, i'm the independent sub dealer (coast zone) from the autorized Tohatsu-Japan dealer for the jungle zone (Amazone) which is the central office, the owner is not interested in selling Toh engines to be used on the Pacific Ocean. Being myself a dealer of inflatables ribs/sibs was interested in selling/promoting boats/engines as packages. Like very much these engines, are very simple to maintain. Yamaha has long been the engine king down here, so lets compete HP to HP being summer very near.

Wrote Toh factory directly as didn't want to play ping pong emails between the factory/distributer/sub distributer, they sent me PDF parts manuals & 1-2 strokes tech manual as mostly work with 05/15/18/30 engines. You can always print PDF version to paper. Thanks for the spare parts manuals link.

Would like to offer MW-50 to clients, would it be possible to count with the PDF service manual of this engine so to get more involved on this model ?

You need to contact Tohatsu Japan and explain your situation to them. You actually have no legal standing with Tohatsu at this point as you are not an authorized distributor. Whatever the agreement you have/had with the legal Peruvian distributor, it does not have any weight with Tohatsu itself as they are legally bound to only deal with that single distributor for that country.
