tohatsu 15hp/18hp

Can anyone tell me what makes the 3hp difference between 15hp and 18hp on the new 4 strokes?I guessed it was in the carbs but Im hearing its in the way its ported.Both are identical have same bore&stroke,I own a 15hp wanting to gain 3hp if possible without to much mod?thanks steveg

Different powerhead and carb. The engine frame size is the same. But, it would run over a thousand to convert a 15 to an 18. On a side note, the 18 is going to be released around January as a 20. There may be a new block for that one too.

Thanks very much for the info I dont think I need 3 extra hp for the extra 1000.00 it cost.
