Re: Tohatsu 135 TLDI
The 115 TLDI has been pushed back to the end of April or beginning of May.

It is unknown as to what Tohatsu Japan will decide as far as what the next size will be above the 115. It might be a 125, 130 or 135...Or they may very well do something with the block and get 140 hp out of it. They do not rush into anything. That's why their engines do not have recalls...Unlike every other manufacturer.

The 115 is not available anywhere except for Japan and the two engines that are in the Dallas warehouse...And they will not let anyone have those two. Tohatsu has a wide window from when they say they are developing a product to when it actually becomes available for sale. They are at production capacity with their current models and new model introductions have always taken a back seat with them. At least for the last 22 years that I have been involved with them. I believe that they will be available as soon Tohatsu brings the new plant up to speed. That is long overdue.

I know a lot of boatbuilders too. Some are as dumb as a tree stump. Some are pretty smart. But none are questioning anything about Tohatsu's "financial stability, intentions, and whether they're having severe problems with the motor with all these delays." There are three outboard manufacturer's that actually make money. Yamaha, Mercury and Tohatsu. All three are stable,( Some of the people at Mercury are a little unstable). Intentions change with the wind, like everything else in life. And as I said above, Tohatsu does not release an engine for production unless every single thing is proven to function as designed. If that means they hold up production while they re-think a $1.00 new widget...So much the better for their customers. I only wish that other manufacturers had the same policy.
