I was able to get the lower unit back on my '80 50hp . I made a form outof pvc trimplank crammed it with 4 packs of J.B. Weld ; then screwed and clamped the *goop* out of it . While that was hardening I sanded and filled all the surface imperfections and wirebrushed the innards clean. Today I got my new water pump in and bolted the L.U. back up . -maybe too easy-n-smooth . I'll finnish smoothing the upper section the plan to spray it in anti fouling paint <white> . I'll be interested to see if the skeg wiil be a testimonial to J.B. Weld or an awaiting re-repair job ! BTW the area below the red line was rebuilt
