just got the call from my mechanic...….. the boat is ready to pickup. everything has been freshened up so I can start a service history of my own instead of trusting the previous owners. bellows, gimble, shift cable, trim sensors, gear oil, motor oil, fuel filter, water separator ect.

going to get it tomorrow morning.

it was iffy if we were going to get it for this weekend. Im pleased, the kids will be more pleased (since they didn't have to pay the bill haha)

Well you could start learning about YOUR boat and how to do the typical maintenance that goes with boat ownership to save some cash. Just a thought.

Sometimes, just some-times, it is worth paying to have some things done. I know I have from a blown lower unit to a fuel line in a fuel module that I did not catch, sometimes paying the pro's to figure out the problem and complete the repair is totally worth it.

Just in time for the summer too.

I brought it in to have the bellows and gimble bearing done. mechanic is a friend. price was more than fair. he freshened up all the goods at cost. i would normally do that stuff myself. not in a position to pull the drive at home though, would rather have it back this summer and my free time means half hour here half hour there is as good as it would get.

Although most of that service is fairly easy sometimes the time factor just doesn't work out and other times some people a just not comfortable doing it and still other times it's about the service warranty. I say good job just having it done whatever way:clap2:

I used to do everything myself. But then, every 5 years or so I would have my trusted "mobile mechanic" to come to the house and do some of the stuff. I always figured his eyes might see the things I may have missed.

Who cares how other people service their boats. Jebby might be wealthy as all can be, and would rather have someone else do it while he's out fishing with playboy bunnies. He could have lost his arms in a tractor accident so he can't do his own maintenance. Who cares.

I'm happy that he's got his motor back. I hope that your family has a blast this summer Jebby.

^ jebby is not wealthy lol and has both his arms. he also works full time with his wife also working full time and has a 4 and 6 year old at the end of covid 'home schooling'. Life was hectic and now i have a clean slate to work with. I do plan to do most of this stuff myself but if i picked at it piece at a time i wouldnt have had the boat wet for a long time.

happy boating all

Sorry my simple post seems to have caused such conversation. That certainly wasn't my intent. Having no idea anyone's mechanical capabilities, I was merely saying that learning about your boat allows you to do things for yourself and save a few pennies. That's all! :sorry:

GM* don't sweat it. I'm not offended, just got her back. spent an hour with my mechanic getting a lesson. He went through a bunch of little ods and ends as well as how to properly winterize and what not. Hoping to get her out after work if the storms hold off.
