I have a 1991 Evinride XP 150 V6. The engine has been relatively well maintained. It runs strong and idles decently. I have been told by numerous people that I should remove the VRO system and just mix the oil with the gas. Can anyone tell me how I might know if it is on it's way out? Will I get a warning before it fails typically? What is involved in making the change? How much will it cost? THanks for the help.

Re: To use the VRO or to Not use the VRO?!!

Great Article. I found it hard to believe that these VRO's were really as bad as they were made out to be. It seams to me, that if an engine runs at almost 100:1 at idle, and 50:1 at WOT, having a fuel mixture that is a fixed ratio, will not give you good all around performace. Plus, I dont want to be the guy that chokes everybody out at the ramp. Thanks for the reply.
