Someone please help me!!!
I've installed to different sets of points on my 75hp and they fail after a short while. I found that the little red plastic or rubber piece that rides the cam gets weak and flexes causing the points gap to 0. I help finding a better brand and design.

The points that I am using is Sienna part #18-5150

Oh yeah, the dude that sold the Sierra points to me told me that I may have an electrical issue causing the problem and that I should check the stater...

I'm not sure how on earth this could cause the rubbing block to be weak so I'm just going to laugh for now

Another source is Franz Marine. He will have factory made points if they are available.

I have seen rubbing blocks wear excessively and that changes the gap. But never heard of a electrical situation doing that. But I haven't worked OB engines that much either. I would apply a little smear of grease on the metal cam when you install the new points. They usually come with a little grease for the cam. But that will help with the friction. But don't over do that grease because it can sling off onto the point surfaces and make them useless as well. JMHO
