Tashasdaddy,

Do you know why my worning horn is sounding very faint when I turn the key to on before I start my outboard? Before I went to Carlyle Lake in Illinois it sounded louder but since I came back I noticed that the warning horn sounds very faint. I also grounded out the sensor wires comming from both the heads on the motor itself but the horn still sounds faint at first and then doesn't sound at all but if I keep removing and placing the temp sensor wire on a bare part on the motor it will be a faint sound then nothing comming from the warning horn and you can also hear a tapping noise when I remove and place the wire back on a grounded spot on the motor. Is this a bad warning horn?

sure sounds like the horn is bad. try putting 12 volt to it directly. also could be dirty connections, and it's not getting full power from the sender.

Tashasdaddy,

Do you have to remove the warning horn from the remote control to test it on a battery and if so how do you wire it up is it self explanatory once I see it out of the remote control? I have never tested a warning horn before sothat is why I am asking. Thanks, Bob

to be honest i haven't either. this is a little shade tree, the horn gets power + from the ignition, and the circuit is completed when the sensor grounds it to the motor.
