Re: To Seal or Not??

You shouldn't reseal a head gasket. Most are made to compress when you torque them down. I will say that it can be done though. I had a motor, and after I rebuilt it, it wouldn't run after about 30 min. Worked on everything, couldn't find anything wrong. Took off head, because I was sure I did something wrong. Everything fine, so torqued it back on and realized fuel line had severe cut in it, and was sucking air. The motor ran fine till I sold it a year later, but if you can, get another head gasket. I was young when I did this, and wouldn't recommend it except for a very short period of time. Good luck

thanks, I want to use the boat one more time this year, I have had overheating problems and thought I had compression or an exhaust leak back into the water jackets causing it not to pump?
