I am thinking of purchasing a 1999 175hp johnson. I will do a compression check and spark check. I have been reading som horror stories about these motors blowing up pretty easy. My 175 mariner is about as dependable as my first wife. Any ideas as to weather or not I will be making a mistake. I plan to put it on a 21' starcraft and use the boat for fishing. I am tired of coming home on my trolling motor.
