Can someone tell me how to get access to the impeller on a TN28. I have removed the gearcase, but am not sure how to remove the other parts necessary for impeller impection. The Johnson manual I have on CD is not much help. I know I need to loosen the clutch cable. Do I need to remove the large screw on the side of the exhaust housing to make it come free?

Also, I found it strange that I could look down into the gearcase and see the drive gears. I assumed they would be in a tight oil filled chamber.

Thanks for the help.

Adam

Re: TN28 Water Pump

I have the parts manual for the TN-27 model which shows the water pump being located directly on top of the lower unit such as where the present model water pumps are located.

I cannot imagine OMC reverting from that water pump location on the model manufactured after this one... TN-27 to TN-28.

Thanks Joe,

I know where the pump is, I just don't understand how to get access to it. The pump housing is located in the exhaust portion of the lower unit (top segment) and I am not sure what should come off to get to it.

Adam
