i cant seem to get the flywheel off. using harmonic balancer with soft hammer tapping while lifting up. How mean do ya have to get with these things?

Having a good deal of pressure applied to the puller's center shaft, and prying upwards on the flywheel so as to eliminate any play..... BELT the top of that center shaft hard with a good size hammer... NOT a gentle tap!

Make sure those ht bolts are in the proper depth.
I do as suggested above.
Sometimes i torque them a bit more then leave it over night, often you will hear a loud pop from the workshop during the night as it comes free

That all looks good, you have to put a great deal of pressure on your bolts, almost to the point of pulling the threads, then WHACK it good with a dead blow hammer, not ***** hit, it will POP.
The amount of torque needed you won't be able to apply by holding that strap, you need a prybar between the center bolt and one of other 3 or a huge cresent on the one square of the puller, then you can pull some torque.

shazamm . i thought somethin broke and took the puller off and she lifted right off. alot more pressure on it than i thought. So now i have an ohm meter so i have to find point of failure. no spark at top cylinder. now im really lost!

Thats a good thing to happen unexpectedly.
Ive bent ht bolts undoing flywheels and they a still stuck.
Has that model two coils?
If so switch the wires over and see if the problem changes cylinder.
Also a bad sparkplug wont spark- quite common no matter what they look like externally

yes it has two coils. i was told they were new but i dont think new is right word. they have an M stamped on side. any ways i confirmed the plug was good and there was no spark at end of wire

can you swap the leads over and coils and retry?
Do the magnets in the flywheel look ok?

Sorry the camera and video edit software was not all that great. It is very hard to see the spark when I am checking with the spark checker, but in the end I get both set of spark plugs to fire even though you may not be see them. Anyway, I think you will get a good idea how to work on OMC ignition from 1950 to 1973. I know the videos are a little long, so I had to break each segment into 10 min. I am not that good a videoing or editing.

Cheers, hope y'all have fun working on old outboards!!!
