hello i own a 2008 tldi 50 md50b, i snapped the crankshaft in half in late fall and am currently rebuilding. I have ran in to an issue though when i split the crankcase the rubber retainers that hold the thrust plates fell out and broke in half, i am wondering if anybody knows if they will be included if i order a new thrust plate or if they are a separate part. if they are does any one no the part number, they are not listed in tohatsu parts also there is nothing on it in the service manual thank you.

Dunno. You can call Tohatsu America at 214 420 6440 and ask.

just in case anyone was wondering they are not rubber retainers just gasket material with oil on them my next question is what do i do about this pitting ive been sanding it down and do not want to take of to much material the head mating surface came out pretty good only slight pitting and it is flat although the bottom of the block looks pretty bad what should i do just keep sanding it or leave it alone or is there an easier way to remove it thanks

For the block base, it looks OK as is; I expect you will get a decent seal. If worried, you could block sand carefully, or better yet, get it on a mill and cut a few thousandths off. Just be 100% sure you stay dead flat for a good seal.

For the head gasket area, that looks fine. If you remove too much, you will alter the compression ratio, which you should probably avoid. Again, you want the sealing surface dead flat.

It's impossible on old engines to achieve a 100% shinny look on upper lower base, just sand even with metal filling sanding paper small number to a smooth finish. Those dark spots will remain there, nothing to worry about. Mega gray silicone and a new lower gasket will seal to perfection both mating surfaces.

Same with cylinder head mating surfaces, head gasket seals all by itself, no mega grey needed here.
