Tire replacement on SUV

My 2005 Ford Expedition blew out the right rear tire due to a large puncture. The rest of the tires look to have about 1/2 life left. Can I replace the blow tire with a used one of the same make and model or will the differing wear and therefor circumferance create havoc for the differential? What if I put the replacement up front, it is 4wd but almost never is it engaged?

I recently did the same thing with the same tire on an 03 Tundra 4WD. I found a place that had the same tire and had it put on where the bad one was. I can't tell any difference.

Makes no real differance on the rear, Just use the same size tire.

What caused the puncture??? I would be cautious of the other tires until I was sure. If it was a known object then go ahead and replace just one.

As with my cars I try to replace 2 at a time. If I lose a rear I replace both rears. Unless there is very little wear on one. I just prefer symmetry I guess.

Thanks all for the advise.

I scored a good deal on a set of 4 and took the plunge. The tires had about 60K on them and it just seemed like the right thing to do.....

The Expedition comes with a full size spare. Take the other tire off the rear and use it as your spare and purchase one new tire. You will have a set of new tires on the rear. Same thing happened to me and thats what I did.
