HI All,

First time poster here so I hope I go this in the right place.

My young son and I are going to be fishing Tims Ford Lake for the first time. We just have a little old 14 footer with just a 4 horse and a 55 lb trolling motor. As you can guess, it's pretty slow.

Are there any currents on Tims Ford that I need to be concerned about? (other than getting anywhere near the dam, which can be dangerous from what I hear).

Thanks!

Never been there, but at 11k acres it will likely have quite a bit of recreational traffic in the summer. That could make for a miserable outing in a 14 footer with a 4 horse. You might shoot for week days and seek out sheltered water. Hopefully you'll get some advice on here from someone who's spent time on that lake, but you're much more likely to get reliable info from area liveries. Welcome aboard.

Thanks Incoop. You're right. I plan on staying near shore and hanging out in or near the multiple inlets on the lake - and we'll be out there mid-week mostly. That said, I also plan on just being aware of the other guys. Appreciate your thoughts.

It does to me, too. Just want to be sure I'm safe with my son on board. I'll post how we do when we get back!
