Changed valve gaskets, thermstat and water pump....motor want start.
Sparks have fire and gas is good. Could having timing off even slightly cause it not to start. Cranks good and kill switch has been checked.

Re: timing?

In all likleyhood NO .So that brings us to the question of why you are considering that possibility. If that engine has been running fine and the valves have not been tampered with,do a compression test.If you get equal numbers and are confident that the fuel quality is adequate and the choke is working properly, this thing should fire off.Compression, ignition, and fuel, all in the right proportions are all it takes to make an engine run. What are you missing?
