Hello all..<br />Long time reader, first time poster. I have a question regarding the basic setting for the spark advance linkage rod on my '89 Force 150. I was confused as to why I wasn't able to get above 3,500 RPM last time on the lake. Got home to find that the left side linkage swivel had broken apart and that the rod is completely missing. This would explain the loss of RPM's as timing was not advancing with throttle. I have ordered new parts and had a friend tell me that the "spread" between the two swivel points should be set about 11 mm before installation. Does this sound right? Thanks for any help.
