Timing Set Up

Would it be possible to send us some information on how to set the timing back up on my Engine 2007 Volvo Penta 5.7 GI-G Serial number 4012215965



Distributor was removed without marking up the position and the Engine has been turned over so lost all idea where to set it back up,



Any help appreciated

You should have the HSV distributor
Remove port valve cover then rotate motor until number 1 is at TDC

to make sure the motor is at TDC on cylinder #1, you can either pull the valve cover, watch the valves and slowly turn the motor until the damper timing marks are at TDC and both valves are closed.

or you can pull the plugs, put your finger over the hole for #1 spark plug. as the motor spins, you will get a little pfft as the piston comes to TDC between the exhaust and intake stroke, and a large PFFFFTTTT as it comes up on compression stroke. stop cranking at the start of the PFFFFFTTTTT and align the motor timing marks on the damper and timing cover
