i have an 86 johnson 8. it was running ok but i decided to rebuild the carb. now i can start it ok, and rev it ok for a few seconds, but then it just dies quickly at higher revs.
i think, in trying to sync it, i may have goofed up the timing. but i can't get a gun on it before it dies out. should i just be moving the timing at the throttle cable bracket at random a bit + and - to see if i can get it running better before i final time it with the strobe? or can i hurt something by doing this?
is there a better way? thanks, chris
