Timing issue??? 1989 Sunbird Corsica 185

I just pulled boat off of trailer into the water, and as I was floating backwards, I put it in forward. As I approached the dock I shifted into reverse to slow down. From there I tried to put it in neutral, but throttled forward all the way killing the boat. Now boat won’t start. Prior to this boat always started right up, and no issues!

first, welcome aboard

most likely your shift cable needs adjustment or replacment. sounds like the ESA module is being engaged.
