I would link to solicit knowledgeable opinions on the following:

It is said that being in the right place at the right time increases your hook up chances, but just what is the "right time" ? How would you prioritize given the following:

Fish the Tides (2 hours before or after high tide)
Fish the Moons (Major & Minor Solunar Periods)
Fish the Times (Dawn, Dusk, Night)
Fish the Barometer (A pre-frontal condition with a falling barometer)
Thanks for the help.

Howdy.

I agree with Crab Bait. The best time to fish is when you can get out. :)

Like most people I fish when I can rather than when I want to. If I fished every time I wanted to I'd be out of work.

I agree with you both, but the question remains: is one time better than another ?

I can only endorse what has been said.
Where there's water there's fish.
When my wife gives clearance for takeoff I don't argue.
I fish whenever I can and have not had a trip for the last 15 years when I came home empty handed. My mates all take pride in this and often question the same as you have about times etc. I just say to fish when you can. The skill lies in you knowing where to fish and what to target on the day.
Ross

My grandfather always believed the best fishing is when the clouds look like fish scales. As many times as I went fishing with him, we never caught alot based on this. But then again, his favorite lure was a bottle opener. (and Gramma thought he gave up drinking).LOL

to not to shunn your question.. out of ---- " the four " times , dusk dawn , is the most important .. close 2nd tides , 2 & 2 .. then comes barometer .. not one pressures better then other,,it's that fish have to adjust to it ,, makin' them sluggish .. as far as moons ::: i don't know .. don't know the science here..

#1 Fish the Times (Dawn, Dusk, Night) With my favorites being Dusk then Dawn I would not give much for night fishing unless the weather was real hot during the day and that is more for my comfort.
#2 Fish the Tides (2 hours before or after high tide) Not so much the 2 hour thing but I believe in moving water whether it be going out or in. As well I also like it on the lake I fish as i am not just a S/W fisherman.
#3 Fish the Barometer (A pre-frontal condition with a falling barometer) And let me add although I go when I can I usually can't get serious just after a front passes through. try as I may a couple days aftet the front just are mostly fishless.
#4 Fish the Moons (Major & Minor Solunar Periods)Not by any chart that most people use. I use whether the moon is dark. I do not like fishing nights on a dark moon I feel it takes some moonlight for a fish to see a bait. Also some species of fish spawn according to moon phase as well as water temps and such so it does pay to watch the moon some but as far as those tables go throw them out with the rest of the trash.

Thanks for the help.
