i have been trying to get my timing right, i have force 125/4cyl. set static timing at 30 deg. but need to set WOT timing, big question is do i have to go to lake to run boat or is there a way to do at home in tank. Thanks for any help!!!
The very best thing you can do if you haven't already is get a manual for that motor. Its clear full
of alot of info for your motor also the do's and the don't s. I have a 125 force outboard and setting the timing right can be a bit trick. If you are setting the time while cranking then I believe it
needs to be set at 28 btdc to achieve 30 btdc while on the lake at wot. You can set your time while on the lake at wot not recommended for safty reasons but it is possible and will require
two people to do this. To set the time while cranking you will
need to make sure the motor will not start, put it in gear wot and set it at 28 btdc. Helps alot if
you have a remote starter.check it again on the water and it should be advanced to 30 btdc wot
without any further adj. providing everything else is functioning the way it should be. Good luck and I realy hope this helps at least a little.

Heres a good link to a post explaining about static timing your motor without going to the lake, specifically, scroll down to reply #7. There is also a great post in the stickys at the top of the forum about synchronizing carbs and timing...
