Timing a 1987 454 merc..total advance

Ok i will be the first to say this is not advised if you want a long term reliable marine motor..now that said ive looked at the timing curves for the tbolt 4 system's and they are anemic to say say the least. Opinion's on 36 to 40 degress total advance it looks to like there all in @ 2500 and 30 degree's...:grumpy:

The only way to achieve that is by using a mechanical advance dist that you have personally ground away material to allow the flyweights to expand outward some more.

What i have found out is the module used in this engine is 8 degree's initial and 24 at 4000 t total of 32, This old tbolt should run at 10-11 initial for a total of 34-36. Just tinkering for now trying to find a crisper response to throttle with a big boom.
