Time to buy new prop - thinking 4 blade

Hello to all.

I just purchased my first boat. It's a Mako 20' center console. I will be using it 99% of the time for fishing.

Specifics (what I know).
1976 Mako 20' CC
Boat weight: 1,775 lbs (without motor)
Motor: 1984 Evinrude 150hp

I got to ride in the boat before I bought it. The Evinrude pushes it around very well with the existing prop. However when I went to pick up the boat I got a look at the prop. It's pretty dinged up and I would like to get a new one and maybe keep this one as a spare. The prop is 15x17.

I can't give you guys any specifics as far as RPM and MPH to work with, but I would like to get some input from drawn from your experience about a new prop.

First, should I consider a 4 blade? Second, whether I stay with a 3 or go with a 4 what pitch would you guys recommend?

Again, I know I'm not giving you guys much to work with.

Thanks to all.

It should be cost effective to get your 15 X 17 repaired. Then get on the water and
get a base line max rpm and speed, gps is best.
A 4 blade is a good choice; generally improve low and mid range performance
with a slight sacrifice of top end. Get the base line and tell us your typical load and activities.

Thanks guys. I will try to get you some more info. Is it 100% necessary to know mph? I don't have a gps. Explain engine height to me please. I take it it's not shaft length.
