hi am new here and new to boats for that matter. i took my boat out this morning it is a 1967 dorsett with a merc out drive and a four banger. the accelorater pump stuck open and flooded the motor. i went to my local boat parts house and did not have a carb kit. the motor is a chevy four. can i buy a car carb rebuild kit? thanks for your time..

no idea if the car parts will work. generally, car parts don't belong on boats.
me personally, i prefer mercruiser parts for my mercruiser. projects seem to work out better using the oem pats imho. so, maybe someplace like http://mercruiserparts.com/
or
ya might even be able to get the kit here from iboats. search it out.

also, if possible, i'd use the oem manual to set up the specs after yer done cleaning it up. for a '67, you'd want service manual #1. look here if ya don't have it.. #9 specifically. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=288430

You could if you can find a Rochester# on it and cross reference it, quite a few that old took same kits as a car.
