Tilter for 1984 Evinrude 50 HP

Can an outboard motor tilter work on the subject outboard motor without damaging the engine cover?

Ed, there were very few 50hp tillers made, finding one in decent condition is a needle in a haystack. with the proper tiller handle, yes.

TD, he is asking about tilters, not tillers.

It looks like it might work if the fingers can find a suitable purchase under the rear of the engine.
