Hi, I have a 70hp evinrude. The problem is that sometimes the electric tilt wont tilt the motor. Like you would here it working but doesnt have enouph power to lift it up. It eventually kicks in. What can cause this?

And then when left in the up position, does it eventually creep down?

nope, when it is up it stays up. Its just that sometimes it doesnt seem to have power to lift it up then after about 10sec it kicks in

Re: tilt

The newer Trim relays are on the motor and are square devices w/5 flat blades that get gooy. There are two, one for up and another for down ,so if it acts/works only in one direction ,then you can swap the relay to the other position to see if it changes to hard going down instead.Cleaning may help but they do eventually quit.....They click and can also be tapped to free them up on occasion.
The older motors have a remote Trim relay box that also holds the red fuseholder, and are mounted away from the motor.
Swap them and see if it changes anything.
Tim M
