Mercruiser 4.3 alpha engine.
Not run for about 8 mos. Tilt will not go down.
Checked hydraulic oil and is at good level but looks creamy in color. Pump works (sounds ok) but drive stays up. Anyone have any ideas?
-D

Yea this happen to me. It was radical. Had to disconnect hydro from the rams place a rag over the holes, took a block of wood and knocked the hell out of the push rods they were both stuck. Didn't hurt the seals and they both work just fine now. First disconnect line at the rams one at a time and run pump to make sure you're getting pressure to them. If you are the rams aren't your problem. Your impellers could be bad.

Forgot to say be sure to disconnect the push rods from the outdrive before you wack on them. It could be just one ram thats giving you the problem.

Thanks. I didn't wack but pushed. It worked. But what about creamy color. Does hydro need replacing?

Tighten all your connection you could have gotten water in. If you want to drain, I take off one of my lines from a ram and run till almost empty. All the oil ends up on the outside of the boat. Replace line fill resovoir and run with the top off to bleed system . Keep filling and bleeding till it's right. Good Luck
