I HAVE A 1990 FORCE 120 AND THE TILT AND TRIM WAS GIVING ME A LITTLE PROBLEM TODAY THE MOTOR WOULD GO UP OK BUT IT WOULD NOT GO BACK DOWN.WHEN I WOULD PUSH THE TRIM BUTTON DOWN AND ALL I WOULD HERE WAS A CLICK NOISE. WHAT COULD I CHECK TO TRY TO FIX IT? :p :p

Rlay or wire from relay to pump motor, if you can find relays unplug and switch them. Problem moves from down to up bad relay.

Yup, It sounds like the relay is bad. It's possible that the main cable from the relay to the trim motor or the hot lead coming to the relay may have a bad connection. You can test it with a volt meter. Check the hot lead coming to the relay. You should have 12 volts on it. then get a buddy to hit the trim switch and check the terminal that has the cable going to the trim motor. If the relay clicked and you don't have power here, replace the relay. It's a pretty commom thing for these relays to go bad. I just replaced both trim relays on my 90 Mercury. :)
