I have a 1977 Galaxy, 165 mercrusier stern drive. The boat belonged to my father-in-law. It has been setting dormant outside for 8 years. I have the motor running fine however I get no response on the tilt-trim buttons. No clicking or anything. I have traced the wiring and find no inline fuse anywhere. Could it be the solenoid?

Re: tilt-trim stern drive problem

run a wire from the possitive terminal of the battery to the pump. Im not sure what you have for a setup but normally the wires to the trim are green and blue. Blue moves it up and green down. If this works then your switch or solenoid is bad. if nothing, .. then possibly your pump.
doing this will bypass all other electrical and will eliminate other possiblities.
I had the same problem....

galaxy---After sitting for so long you should check the connections for corrosion also.
