Tilt/Trim Reservoir

All,
1993 Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 2 Tilt/Trim Pump SAE J1171. Original equipment is a single center-screw plastic reservoir with an o-ring on the screw.

This seems like a poor design, and was leaking. I want to switch to the four top-screw design. My pump has tabs that look like they could be for the four top-screw design reservoir. Are the reservoirs inter-changable?

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... I agree it's a poor design,...

Never tried what yer sayin', so donno if it'll work, nor the amount of work it'll take...
