I've got a 76 model 85 hp Johnson, I'm replacing the seals in the cylinders.
I've removed the service cap on the left cylinder but the rod will not slide out.
Is it common for the piston to hang on the threads or could there be a burr?
The right cylinder will not release the service cap, the spanner actually bent.
I straightened it and will apply heat to the service cap threads to see if I can get it to release.
btw this system has 4 cylinders, two are in the center, are they dampers or actual hydraulic cylinders, I really havent looked at it closely, When the two outside cylinders are removed the engine does not swing freely up and down.
I've greased all the fittings, with out much affect. Is the pivot in a bind or are the center cyllinders causing the resistence.
