tilt & trim pump motor

I notice on my 98 merc that the trim pump sounds kind of crunchy when raising the drive up yet it sounds very smooth when trimming down.The lines have been bled out and fluid is new but it still sounds the same.Do I need a new pump motor?Why does it only sound bad in the up direction?<br /><br /> Thanks, Matt

Ussally the crunchy sounds come from the gimbal ring an drive shaft not being lubed properly or coupling spines not being lubed

Since the system is self bleeding.. You waisted your time "bleeding out the fluid". Pump motor? Nope. Not if its turning. THe ploblem is the pump? But I dont really know what you mean by "Crunchy" Can you explain more?
