Hi, this is my first question. I have a 2002 125hp merc ELPTO that will not tilt up or down. I have power out of the relays both ways, but no continuity throught the tilt motor. I suspect the motor is bad. How do I tilt the engine up to get to the elect tilt motor? Is there a relief somewhere I can push or remove so I can lift the engine? Thanks for any info you can provide!!

Re: Tilt/trim problem

hot wire the trim motor to a car or lawn tractor battery. if the motor does not spin when hotwired then the motor is bad.

My 40 hp ELPTO has a plastic screw out plug accessible front he starboard side of the motor mount that you slacken to take the pressure off the system and allow you to raise or lower. You can reposition motor and tighten screw/plug to hold motor in position.
