Tilt trim not working

Pulled the boat out last week and the tilt trim stopped working, nothing. Pulled the trim motor and tested it. It was bad. Ordered up a new and the kit had new solenoids as well. Wired it all in still nothing, cleaned all the connections. Still nothing, new circuit breaker on the wire from the battery. There is power at the trim switch and the trailer switch on the throttle. And you can use a jumper wire across the silenoids and it will power up and down. Oh yeah it's an 88' murcruiser , 305 engine with an alpha one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Trying not to take it in to a shop.

Trim limit switch is probably bad. Port side of gimbal ring. Look near the transom for two black wires that plug into two connectors, one with a purple/white wire and one with two blue/white wires. Unplug the black wires and jumper between the connectors with a piece of wire. Try the trim switch, if it works the trim limit circuit is the problem.

It was still light out here so I gave that a try. Jumped between the blue/white & purple/white. Still nothing. Tomorrow I'm going to run a new ground wire ans see if that works.

Does the trailer switch work? One of those two blue/ white wires comes directly from the trailer switch. The p/w wire comes from the trim button, and current goes through the trim limit to the b/w wires. If the trailer switch works, but the trim does not when you jumper it, then it sounds like you are not getting power from the trim switch. If you have a voltmeter you should see12v on the p/w wire when you push the trim switch, 12v on the b/w connector when you push the trailer switch. If you have power from the trim switch and the trailer works then the trim switch should work after you jumpered it.
