i have a 75hp mercury outboard tilt and trim has always worked fine. used it to lift the motor 2 mins before i replaced the starter. After the starter was replaced there was no tilt/trim, using the button on the motor or on the throttle it does nothing. it doesnt make noise or anything. i made sure i didnt forget any wires. i even went as far as taking the starter back off just to double check. ANy suggestions?

What did you touch when accessing the starter? Did you start the engine after the replacement? Did it run and everything else seem to work? If so a fluke. If not check your fuse since you said you got all the wires back in place. One of the red wires coming off the starter solenoid 3/8" input stud should have a fuse holder embedded in it. I think the fuse is 20 amps. Do you have a trim switch on the side of the cowling and at the control? If so, did you try both to see if one will and the other won't?

A lot of those motors have the 2 trim solenoids next to the starter solenoid and they can look identical. Any chance you mixed them up? Does the power from the starter solenoid run to the trim solenoids?
