Tilt/Trim was working properly until I hit a sandbar with the motor at a down position. The Tilt/Trim still operates as normal at a halt, but will only trim high enough just prior to plaining the boat before it drops back to the down position without my control. There are no visible leak on any of the cylinders and or decrease on the fluid level. Any advice is greatly appreciated.........HELP

OMC 1.6 Seadrive

Re: Tilt Trim Mystery

Roland, Tilt/Trim cylinders have a piston seal (same function as piston rings in an engine). if this seal is bad, the motor will trim down when power is applied. They may sell replacement seals, depending on the type of motor.

Re: Tilt Trim Mystery

Have you tried raising and lowering the drive all the way a few times ? (note: do not do this while engine is running).
