Tilt & Trim - how to release pressure

Hi,

I've posted a few days ago that my T&T unit on my 1992 force 120 is pretty much done for. I removed the motor and hydraulic pump to take a closer look but now that I have a towing bracket I want to tilt the motor all the way up so i can insert it and work on the other components (i need to get to the ram and pistons).

I've seen videos of people releasing the T&T pressure which allows the outboard to move freely. Can you please advise where i might locate the valve on my force 120? The T&T is out and the hydraulic are open essentially but i can't lift the motor by hand without feeling the pistons resisting.

Can anyone please advise?

Regards,
Yarin.

This particular set-up does not have a valve to release the pressure. You can remove the lines from the tilt cylinder and lift the motor. Be aware that when you lift the motor, hydraulic oil will squirt out from the tilt cylinder and maybe the lines themselves.

No pressure release.
Undo the front hyd. line.
There might be a lot of pressure when you undo the line.
You'll probably need to remove the line to be able to lift the motor.
Block it up, then tie it up using a rope .
VERY DANGEROUS!!!!!

To keep from taking an oil bath put a rag over the fittings when loosening.....and a pan underneath.
